hello all hope your weekend was great and eventfull like mine!
i went to terengganu over the weekend to attend K's cousin's wedding and his parents decided to invite me along so that we could buy some jewellery and songket for his side.

i guess this will be the start of my so-called wedding blog :)

as part of the hantaran, his parents are gifting me a set of jewellery. so off we went to a jewellery store (like duH!). we went to the same person who sold us the "merisik" ring. after browsing around i settled on a bracelet with a line of diamonds (simple just the way i prefer) and a diamond flower pendant with necklace. i absolutely love them esp the bracelet! i felt a bit weird tho choosing the jewellery and then getting someone else to pay them. luckily his mom and sisters got something tho so i didn't feel so bad.

then they took us to nur at*ikah songket. i didn't realise how expensive songkets are! we saw one that's RM16k and apparently can reach up to tens of thousands. since our wedding is still just under 8 months away we could even choose our own colour and design and get them custom made! since this is for K's side i let him choose the colour that the likes then i chose my design. he settled on a dark brown background with gold songket. so mine will be dark brown too with "bunga tabur" (small designs for the top) and diamond shaped bottom using gold and silver threads for the songket. i really hope they turn out nice tho. i'm just bunking of the fact that i'm fair so anything colour i wear would look nice. but i still can't help feeling slightly nervous about the final product. so insyaAllah it will all be a-ok.

K also chose another songket with white background with gold threads for my side to match the white theme. absolutely loved the design as it looks grand and elegant so now i just need to find the material for my side to match. i stupidly did NOT take a picture of this songket so now i don't know whether i should wait for the songket to be ready and take it along whilst shopping for me or to just go ahead without it? hmm decisions...

oh at K Tganu we stayed at ri-yaz heritage which has a promotion at the moment.
the rooms are soo nice! we were mucking abt in the infinity pool in the evening so after dinner when we got back into the rooms, me and K's sister fell straight asleep with the air cond on engulfed in the thick duvett and feather down pillows! oh at the pool me and k were trying to recreate that dirty dancing scene where baby gets lifted by patrick swayze (what was his character's name?!) in the lake. kesian gak kimi sakit belakang to lift the heavy me but we had so much fun playing around in the pool with his cousins and brother and sister. there was a candid pic of us which his sis took and i was doing one of my gelak besar and he was laughing too which i absolutely love! we looked so happy and we both really are at the moment. alhamdulillah..i am so grateful. i absolutely adore his family and had such a great time with them. it was a great mini holiday but hopefully next time we can have another holiday along with my family together! that would be perfect! next time when everyone is back in Msia perhaps.

anyways check out the pictures of the hotel room and the pool

till next time...toodles

i have 8 months till THE day and i haven't done much since the kursus kahwin.
fortunately we are going to terengganu this friday to check out and buy some songket for the groom's reception. i'm really looking forward to the 4 day work week then spending a weekend away. mind you i am going with the future in laws so must be on my best behaviour! (not that i act differently in front of them but just need to tone down my selamba-ness).

anyhoo a few weeks back K and I went out on a date. it was our first date since we came back. yes we do see each other almost everyday (kinda hard to escape when you live only a street apart!) but we hadn't gone out properly since August. so to put back a little excitement in the relationship i told him to surprise me. so on one fine sunday morning guess where he took me? THE MUSEUM! :)

we both like going to museums but after visiting some of the oldest museums in london and edinburgh we didn't put much hope on the KL one. much to our surprise, they have improved and revamped the museum. we were very impressed with the exhibitions and different areas. my only vivid memory of the museum when i was little was an indian man sitting in a glass cage surrounded by snakes! whilst kimi's memory was the picture of rashid sidek hung on the wall. luckily malaysian tourist department had some sense and realised that the first place that tourists would find is the museum to learn abt the history of the country. when we visited there was an exhibition on all traditional malay games and you could even play the games ie congkak, teng teng etc. then there were the usual history of malaysia leading up to independence, a section on malay kingdom ie sultan2. did u know that the sultan of the states are all originally related to each other? so the sultan of melaka is like cousins to sultan kedah and so on and so forth. then there was also a section on malaysia today which had pictures of iconic malaysians. so we thought the museum was worth every single sen paid for the entrance fee (RM2) and i would recommend it to anyone! you should go and check it out :)

so on to my next bit of ranting i would like to share my driving tips with everyone,

"always assume that the person in front of you will cut into your lane WITHOUT signalling!"

if you do this, i'm pretty sure that you can avoid any accidents.
also, when will ppl ever realise that when you use the emergency lane that usually CREATES the traffic jams when you try to weasel your way back into the appropriate lane.

okie folks till next time!

ps; damn i could kill for some ben and jerry's half baked ice cream righttt now!

I've never been an F1 enthusiast until K was watching it and he took the time to explain it to me. Now i follow it quite religiously and i was quite surprised at how much into it i got! i remembered aaages ago even before there was a D&K that i randomly watched it and was rooting for Raikonen coz they had the same first name (that was when we just started to become close friends).

i was too tired last nite to watch it in full so went to sleep first and then told K to call me in the last 10 laps. i should have watched the first few laps as they were pretty interesting. the race in brazil last night was action packed with drivers starting from the back managed to overtake and get podium positions! and best of all Button won the championship! so rugi tak tgk from awal! damn...

anyhoo i've also started playing for my house at work. played volley few weeks back and got second place. was gutted when we lost at netball (came second). it was such a close match and i can't help thinking that i've got the curse of the silverware (ie silver medals/second place). since warwick days we always come second against notts and once again the curse still stuck when i lost last weekend. was spose to play badminton on sunday but after i got knee-ed in the head, i wasn't feeling well so needed the rest. the team got 1st place and as i was the reserve player, i also got the prize..yeayy... oh did i tell u that we got prizes in the form of A*SBs (unit trusts). it's quite good that it's given as such or else i would have spent it on shoes!

got another netball match next weekend at the old college. so looking forward to that. i think us girls are going to make it into a road-trip/bday celebration.

work wise on the other hand, still not much work coming this way. i'm feeling quite bored but i think i feel more guilty at the fact that i'm getting paid without doing much! maybe i should just sit back and enjoy the ride before it gets busy. i've been warned that it will get busy at the year end. so i'm gonna go and browse the ik*a catelogue! :P

ATP Malaysian Open

i was very fortunate to be given all season tickets for the tournament courtesy of adik angkat! thanks loads for the tix bro. he even got me VIP parking and tickets for the player's launch event. that was when i took pictures with davydenko and soderling. there were a few other players that i just simpy took pictures with without really knowing who they are.

soderling was very friendly and accomodating when i wanted to take pictures with him. i even wished him good luck and shook his hand (and it was a VERY strong handshake!) davydenko was not so friendly. he didn't even smile! so i was rooting for soderling for this tournament. unfortunately he lost to davydenko at the semis. oh and i also met astronout/space traveller! he was too very nice and friendly!

the finals was very entertaining. our seats were very good, second row from the court so we were very close! however we got dodgy seats and they were literally hanging by a wire so we had to support the seats with our feet! but can't complain much as they were free. i didn't really know who to support as i'm not a huge fan (truth be told, before this pernah dgr nama a few times je!) of davydenko or verdasco. verdasco had loads of supporters. well he was damn cute so veryy nice to look at. his balls are all very strong and had a lot of force but he had so many errors. davy was pretty consistant so i knew he would win. plus i felt a bit sorry he didn't have many supporters so i started supporting him. ceh nak support org yg menang je :P

let's hope there are many more tournaments coming soon!

ps: i bought my sport shoes yesterday! so i can start exercising now. got aerobic classes lined up and a few netball games coming up soon! veryy excited! :D

pps: i'll post pics some other time! or i'll just post to FB la hehe

2 berita tergempar!

1) I felt my first ever earthquake tremor today (along w a gazillion of other ppl who works in tall high rise buildings). Apparently it was from an earthquake in sumatera which didn't cause any tsunami. Panic arose thinking abt my sis in NZ who had tsunamis warning issued out. It felt weird like the building was moving. I wasn't sure at first but when I asked , they all felt it too. We all packed up and I thought twice before taking the lift. But I wasn't going to take 29 flight of stairs down!

2) As expected the maid run away. Luckily nothing was stolen and my sister and pah are fine. But to think abt how much daddy spent to get her..I just felt really sorry for dad. I really don't want another one. Buat lagi stress ada la. Geramnyeeee...oh and apparently when she stayed with my aunt over raya (6 days) she told her sob story and my aunt gave her another month's worth of salary. All in all she got 3 months salary when she was only here for 1!!! Tu tak kira duit agency lagi. B!tch...

Well I'm in a b!tchy mode so -

To X - u texted me to apologise for not being a good friend but then u decided to delete me?FINE!

Btw he clearly cheated on you and u know it!

To Y - so - its taken u over a month (and still counting) for us to meet up? I've lost count how many times u've cancelled. If u've got a problem say, used to scream and shout at each other. But now u're just running away?? FINE!

Btw when are u going to pay me back??

Selamat Hari Raya

after 7 years of not celebrating raya with my family, the excitement of it was quite overwhelming! i almost "enjoyed" the 5 hours drive back to kampung with my brother and his tweeting (the car tweets!) britney.

we made it back to Kuala Kangsar just in time to berbuka puasa with the rest of the aunties, uncles and cousins. dapatla makan KK buka puasa specialties such as popiah and murtabak pak din pendek. then i waited excitedly to hear the "pengumuman dari mohor2 terbesar" and seronoknye terlompat2 dpt tau sunday raya! :)

i woke up early in the morning and after subuh the line to the bathroom started forming. mild panic swept thru me as we didn't have water in the mornings at the kampung. luckily i had just enough for a quick shower! we performed our Eid Prayers at the magnificent Masjid Ubudiah. after the prayers, i was menyibuking near the makan diraja to catch a glimpse of the sultan and raja muda. he was a mere 2 metres away from me at one point. i found him quite daunting esp when he refused to shake a citizen's hand. we then visited my late uncle's grave (he was a decendant of Sultan Idris, the previous Sultan of Perak).

after the prayers we had our traditional salam and duit raya session. i was teary eyed thinking and missing my late grandfather. but i was so grateful that i managed to spend this Eid with my whole family. i gave out duit raya to my cousins for the first time. abisss duit! but as my brother correctly pointed out, it's a form of sedekah so nvmla.

we didn't visit many relative house's this time around. i was pretty much stuck in the kitchen where i changed from my baju raya to a t-shirt as i was washing dishes the whole day. we only visited my other grandmother that night in the nearby kampung and that was all the beraya i did.

all in all i was glad that i'm back for good and now can celebrate eid again with the family :)
nothing beats cooking, eating, taking pictures with the family and of course asking for forigveness from parents personally rather than over the phone is entirely different.
